How to stop Entourage from sending old emails when rebuildingdatabase?

A couple of times I've noticed Entourage 2004 do the following: when I
rebuild the database, it sends a handful of old emails without warning me.
People reply thinking I've lost my mind and the worst part is that I can't
tell who it sent to! Any way to prevent this?

This is not by design. Are you sure it's Entourage actually sending
these messages? Do you see it happening in the Progress window? Do you
see these messages in your Sent Items folder?

You can try choosing Work Offline in the Entourage menu prior to a
rebuild. How often are you rebuilding your database?

A detailed examination of the Internet Headers of these messages will
tell if they are actually originating from your machine, or from a
server somewhere.
