How to stop message map from appearing in all messages?

What it says. Somehow I managed to get a document map stealing part of every
one of my message panes and don't want to have to right click it to make it
go away on every message.

What what says? It's not at all clear what problem you're trying to describe. Maybe you could add a few words? Your Outlook version and whether you're using Word as your mail editor might even be relevant.

Hi Sue,

Yes, the corportate Outlook standard seems to require Word.

The Outlook version is 2002 (10.76515.6735) SP3

Every time I compose or reply to a messsage the left side of the pane in the
message area turns into a blue-grey horizontal and vertical scrollable
region. That pane is empty when it first appears in as composition window.
Some of the characters from the message re replicated in that pane. When I
right click the pane to get rid of it (it lacks an X in it's boreder for
dismissal), it calls itself "Document Map" with a magnifying glass icon and
the "D" underlined. Left cloiking on that pop-up menu entry will make the
region go away.

I hope this helps,

Len
