How to stop Outlook 2000 from automatically sending/receiving messages

Hi, I'm sure this is a FAQ but I can't find the answer anywhere. I want to stop
Outlook from automatically sending/receiving messages at startup and every n
minutes, but I cannot for the life of me find the options to do this.

I am using Outlook 2000 which I think is connecting to Microsoft Exchange via
IMAP. A friend of mine is using Outlook 2002 which has a Mail Setup tab with the
options on, but Outlook 2000 doesn't have this tab.
