how to stop using MS Project Server

Hi All,

How can I configure MS project so it stops using Project Server? We did a
test with the server, and now wish to revert into using stand alone licenses.

Thanks,

Hi Peter,

To switch over to the My Computer account:

Start --> Programs -->Microsoft Office --> Microsoft Office Tools -->
Microsoft Office Project Server Tools

At the Project Server Accounts dialog box, select My Computer and click
Set as Default and click OK.

As a side note, the fact that Project can connect to the Project Server
means that you have Project Professional and already have the built-in
license to connect to Project Server. No standalone license required.

Good Luck!

Thanks Rolly.

From MS Project, choose "collaborte menu". From there I performed exactly
the same selections: "My computerr" is already the default, yet every time I
start Project, it continues asking whether I want to connect to a project
server. The definitive answer is "NO", and I cannot configure that. Neither
can I delete the project server from that screen.

Regedit somewhere?

Thanks again, Peter

Hi Peter,

Do you have any Project Server accounts?
If so, copy the configuration settings first, then you can deleted them.

Once you've done that, change the "When Starting" setting to
Automatically detect connection state.

I also found that configuring the Project Server accounts outside of
Project Pro (the application is not running) is usually works.

Let us know how it turns out

Cheers,

Hi Rolly,

So, after rebooting the laptop (was behaving strangely anyway), and
re-starting the Project Server Accounts application, I now did have the
possibility to remove the Project Server name.

So now, it only shows "My computer" under the available accounts. Yet it
continues asking if I want to connect or work off-line from my laptop.

Not sure what you mean with cpoying the configuration settings?

Peter

Hi Peter,

When you are in the Project Server Accounts dialog box, in the "When
Starting" setting to change from "Manually control connection state" to
"Automatically detect connection state".

Then you should be good to go!
