How to stop Visio shape selection windows from opening?

How can I stop the Visio shape selection windows from opening every time I
open an existing file? FYI - I'm running Visio Standard 2003 SP2. I've
tried closing the shape selection boxes, saving the file, and then exiting;
but when I reopen the file, the shape windows appear! I can't find anything
in properties, options, etc. that controls this.

I believe Visio does this no matter what you do.

Actually, Digitall has found the correct steps in another post.

The key is to actually close the stencils that are in the Shapes window and
then close the Shapes window. If you just close the Shapes window, it
reappears the next time.

Please post back if this does not work for you and describe the stencils you
are using.

It has appeared not so simply as I thought in the beginning. The reason is
covered in current opened file Visio. If in current file Shape window is ON,
any next opened files will have it. If in current file Shape window is OFF,
any next opened files will haven't. If, certainly, at them it has not been
opened Stencils in a Shape window.

For users the unpredictable behaviour seems.

I've tested and closing the stencils and then closing the Shapes window works
unless I have opened another Visio file where the Shapes window is open
before opening my original file again. In that case, the stencils don't
appear (good); but the Shapes window does appear (bad). I haven't been able
to find any setting that controls whether the Shapes window appears or not.
We're very close. Thanks for your help!
