How to suppress automatic hyphenation in only one word?

I want to hyphenate an English language document automatically but switch off
hyphenation for single words (in a foreign language).

Select the word itself and go to Tools | Language | Set Language and check
the box for "Do not check spelling or grammar." If you will have to do this
frequently, you might want to define a character style defined as Default
Paragraph Font + Do not check spelling or grammar. With a keyboard shortcut
to apply the character style easily, you can exempt a word from proofing as
easily as you can make it bold or italic.
