How to tell if a plan was only saved and not published?

I understand the difference between saving a project in EPM and
publishing (saving does not publish assignments) but as an
administrator how can one tell the difference in PWA between a plan
that is just saved vs one that has been published?

Hi Kevin,

If you can see the plan in the Project Center then the plan was published.
If you only saved the plan, then you wont see it in Project Center. That is
the only way.
hope this helps

Marc,

I might be wrong but I think its not correct what you said. Just saving a
plan shows the plan in Project Center. If you save a plan & see the status
bar closely, after ... Saving plan... it show message 'Publishing Information
sentt for processing...' just for a second or so.

If you modify any Project Center view in PWa > Admin & add fields called
'Last Published'. That also shows the same date when you saved it. I thought
adding this field would work, but it doesn't.

To me it seems like 'Publishing' termonology is bit confused.

'Publishing' option in Collaborate > Publish menu publishes task assignments
to resources' timesheet.

May be some one else can clear Kevin's issue.

I stand corrected FaisalM. Having just tried to only save a Project Plan, the
plan still showed up in Project Center. hmmmm.

What is not pulished are the resource assignments. Only after you publish
the project the resources will show up and tasks can be updated by resources.

Sorry Kev, not sure how you can tell the difference ;(

Thanks Faisal and Marc, I know this issue seems a bit difficult to
solve, I had already tried a couple of your approachs without sucess.
Hopefully someone else may have an answer for us. If I were assigned to
the projects I could check my timesheet but this will not work for all
projects out there given the admin is not assigned to any tasks.

My way of finding out whether a plan is published is the following:-

Go to Admin in PWA
Click Manage Windows SharePoint Services
Click Manage SharePoint sites
Click on the Site created for that particular project
Click Site Settings and then select Manager Users
Check for the members of the *Executive *group

If the Executive group names are there then it is a Published projec
otherwise it is not
