How to tell what version of Office X (eg. 10.1.4) is installed?

I'm trying to help a friend who has just upgraded her orignal iMac with
more memory, OS X, and a newly-purchased Student & Teacher
edition of Office X. She's having some problems with Word that sound
like bugs to me; how does she determine what level of Office
she's at so she can download whatever updates she's missing?

Open the Microsoft Office X folder, and then open the Office subfolder.
Select (single-click) the Microsoft Component Plugin, and then go to File ->
Get Info. The version number displayed there tells you what updates you've
applied.

It's probably 10.1.2 (meaning you need to get 10.1.4 and 10.1.5), though it
might not be. All of the currently available updates (10.1.2, 10.1.4, and
10.1.5) can be found at the Microsoft site:

One of my friends has Student & Teacher version too. I was surprised to
discover that it's v10.1.4 (and comes with no fewer than 3 CD keys).
