I used to be able to call Excel in Matlab background using Excel DCOM server
(function "actxserver") and close Excel later. Now, I ran into a touble that
I cannot terminate DCOM server anymore. The "Excel" process stays forever.
Because I need to call the server many times during my program execution,
that number of "undead" Excel process just keeps increasing and soon the
memory runs out.
Because I only routinely update my Windows, Office, virus database and
firewall service and I never change the system settings, I can't think of
anything I messed up.
I contacted the Matlab IT support and they said it is not the Matlab issue.
Some machine may have so called confliction in background so that Excel
cannot be terminated. I have no idea what is that. Maybe it is caused by the
windows update that activated some service in the background. Or maybe it is
the new feature of windows.
I searched online and did not anyone had this problem. I call MS and the
phone support is not free...
Anyway, can anyone help me?
Thanks a lot.
