I am trying to transfer applications on an old computer running Windows 2000
to a new one running Windows 2003 with minimum hassle. To start the
process I am sharing the D: drive on the old computer as D: on the new
computer by mounting it over the network. Is there an easy way to
transfer over the registry entries for Microsoft Office from the old
computer to the new one? I dread having to do the full re-install, then the
SP1 re-install, then any of the security updates that Windows Update may
have applied over time.

Is there any application that would detect the registry entries, and export
them in a standard format, so I could then use regedit (or the like) to
import them on the new machine?

Hi, westes,

You can save limited settings using the Profile Wizard:

816003 - OFF2000: Description and Use of the Microsoft Office 2000 Profile
Wizard:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;816003

It's really cleanest and best to re-install Office and the patches. There's
so much operating system integration that you'll likely miss without doing a
new installation.

Just uninstall it from one computer and install it on the other. It should
work If it doesn't they let you callmicrosoft and then tell them waht you
are doing.
