How to transfer Outlook address book from laptop to desk top?

Z

I have XP-Professional
I have a laptop that has outlook and copied the address book to a thumbdrive
how do I add it to the address book on my desk top in Outlook?
I sure don't want to have to retype 326 addresses and phone numbers and
emails.
I need detailed specific instructions. I am not a computer geek but I do
know a little.
Thanks for your help, respectfully.

Outlook's address book contains no data. Tell us what you really did.

Be precise in describing what steps you have taken so we can determine what
may have gone wrong. Be sure to include your Outlook version.

If I understand your problem correctly, you have your address book on your
laptop and you want a copy of the address book on your desktop

In order to copy my address book to another computer I export to a flash
drive then I import to # 2 computer.

To Export
File>Import/Export
select export to a file
Select the Personal folder file"PST" file
Select Contacts in your personal folder
then follow the remaining steps

To Import to the other computer
File>Import/Export
Select import from another file
Select the Personal folder file"PST" file
Then browse for the file you exported

Voila, your other computer should have a duplicate copy of your address book.

Decidedly poor advice. Never export or import to transfer Outlook data. Nor
would this in any way restore the address book view of the Contacts.
Copy the PST file and open it in the other installation.
