My Outlook 2002 was running on XP system when computer failed. I mounted old
hard drive externally and connected it to my new computer running Vista. I
copied the old files to Outlook 2002 on Vista to the Outlook folder located
at C:\ users \ user name \ appdata \ local \ Microsoft \ outlook
The old files I copied to the outlook folder were extend.dat ; mailbox.PAB
; outlook1backup.pst ; outlook1.log
I then pointed Outlook to the outlook1backup.pst file and opened Outlook.
Everything from my old program was there on the Outlook 2002 Vista system
EXCEPT my Personal address book (.PAB file). My contacts are there but my PAB
contains many more e-mail addresses than my contacts.
I would appreciate any help provided in successfully transferring my PAB.
I apologize Brian for starting a new thread but I have struggled mightily to
get this point.
If I can get my .PAB file to work it appears the only remaining item will be
to reconstruct my sending / receiving (POP3 /SMTP) accounts. Correct?
Everything else seems to be there and working. FYI; I have taken your
suggestion and purchased MS Office 2003 from e-bay. Haven’t received it yet
but hopefully it will be an improvement over Outlook 2002.
