How to Trust Location in User AppData (Using Auto FE Updater)

So, I'm trying to use Tony's Auto FE Updater. It suggests having the fe's
copied to %APPDATA%, so it's in that given users application folder.

However, it is not possible within Access 2007 to use an environmental
variable such as %APPDATA%.

How is it possible to set the trusted location this way? I toyed with just
changing it in the registry key, but then Access 2007 greyed out that
location, presumably not considering it trusted.

Ok, of course, just after posting, I discovered the answer... sort of...

To use environment variables for trusted locations, you replace the 'path'
key in the registry (which is a string value) with a new 'path' key of type
Expandable String Value using the environment variable in the path.

How ever, now I see that creating the trusted location on my machine has no
effect on the client machine after using Auto fe Updater to copy the fe file.

I suppose this makes sense, but there's no way to set trusted locations in
access Runtime (which is on all client machines), and I can't figure out how
to have Auto FE updater create the registry entry.

Helf!

I can see that this is a feature that will be requested more often as
A2007 starts getting used more and more. I'll have to look into this
when I have some time. However I very much doubt it will be in the
next month or so.

You could try a reg file that the user clicks on. Note, however that
if the users registry file already has a trusted location set in key #
1, for example, you could easily over write that key location with
your own path that you insert into that slot.
