How to turn off online research

Hi,

I am having trouble finding a way to disable online searching when using research to use the thesaurus.

Basically everytime I open word and try to use research for the thesaurus, I am prompted for an internet password and I want to disable this and just use the thesaurus. After I cancel the internet password dialog, the thesaurus opens and works but is there a way to disable th research option trying to access the internet.

Any info would be appreciated.

Open Word, for instance, then Tools->Options->General Tab->Service
Options->Online Content. Change your settings from there.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had previously turned off online content within the menu suggested in order to disable office help attemting to conect online every time I pressed F1.

There must be another setting somewhere or this is one of those 'features' which is hard wired into the application.

Have you tried Tools, Research and then the Research Options at the bottom
to limit where you search?

Hi Don, Thank you for your help.

The wierd thing is, I can switch off all research options and Word will still try to search online the first time I click on research.

I am starting to think this is a feature as I cannot seem to find any possible solution after 2 days of trawling the web.
