Hi Mike,
In Word's Tools=>Options=>General see if turning off the Word Perfect compatibility settings helps.

I have a user that highlights a word in email and hits the delete key, he
gets a message at the bottom, left of the email saying "Delete entry?
No/(Yes)". You can then press the Y or N key for yes or no. How do we turn
off this prompt. We just want the selected word to delete without having to
confirm. We use Microsoft Outlook 2003 with Word as the email editor.
