How to turn off the merge code from the document., Help Urgent

R

RS

I was working on mail merge, and I added an IF condition to diplay a
sentence based on a condition of a field in the data source. Then I
wanted to see condition I had typed in by pressing the SHIFT+F9, after
viewing the code, I pressed SHIFT+F9 once again and code dissappeared.
I selected the whole page and pressed SHIFT+F9. I was able to see all
the merge codes and again pressed SHIFT+F9 to turn off and saved the
document. When I press the view merged data button in the toolbar, I
see the merge code in the document(1st page). If I press the view
merged data button in the toolbar again to undo, I still the merge
codes. Again I go the next record, Word is displaying field codes
instead of form fields. Then I closed the document and opened another
mailmerge document, I still field codes instead of form fields.

Thanks

Make sure that Tools|Options|View|Field codes is unchecked
a. when you start Word and open a blank document
b. when you open your mail merge document.

If it is not, you may need to open normal.dot, change the setting, and save
it. Unfortunately, I'm not even sure that that will fix this problem.
