How to type a Statement of Interest?

I am applying for a position with the US Courts and have never typed a
"Statement of Interest", does anyone have any suggestions or samples, it
would truly be appreciated. The position is for a Probation Services
Assistant (Clerical), I have over 15 years of administrative and clerical
experience; however, I have never written or seen this type of statement.

how much experience you say you have...?
oh, never mind - its a government job....
