How to uninstall updates, service packs, without system restore

A

anyone

I'm using XP. Ever since I installed Service pack 3 to Office 2003--and a
whole lot of other updates at that time--I have been unable to use the
scroll feature for my trackball mouse. Scrolling down is okay, but if I try
to scroll up I see the same two lines of text repeatedly in the monitor and
I don't get anywhere. I've reinstalled the Trackball (mouse) drivers, and
so forth but it's not working.

For various reasons, I can't do a system restore. I would greatly
appreciate help in diagnosing this problem, or in how to uninstall updates
and service packs without system restore. The updates do not appear as
programs in add/remove.

Thanks!
S.

Check for both mouse driver updates & vid driver updates, from the relevent
manufacturers, NOT via MS Update
