Hello,
My company has started to roll out Windows Vista Business on our network
(currently all XP SP2 machines). We are encountering problems. We have a
strict company policy of using only a minimal OS (until now XP SP2),
protection software (firewall, antivirus, anti-spyware) and productivity
software (ie Office 2003 and some other approved programs).
I have to demonstrate to line managers that all our new Vista Business
network computers are firstly secure, and secondly can only be used
productively for the company. However, Vista Business includes several
"default" applications in the OS - eg Windows Mail, Windows Calendar,
Windows Address Book, Windows Media Player, Windows Sidebar etc, that are
not permitted under company policy, because they can all conceivably be used
non-productively for the company. With Windows XP, it was possible to simply
untick unwanted default programs to uninstall them. However, this option
seems to no longer exist in Vista Business?
How can I uninstall prohibited programs from Vista Business, and more
importantly how can I show to line managers that these have been
definitively removed from our new PCs?
Thank you,
Pierrick DS
