How to uninstall

Dear Forum,

I've installed Vista Business and Office Ultimate retail on my lapto
but then it crashed (motherboard defect). The manufacturer gave me th
hard disk from the old machine and I put it in a new machine. Now I ge
errors to re-activate.

Since the old machine is crashed, I can't uninstall the software but
want to install the programs on the replacement machine.

How do I free my licence of the old installation? I want now to instal
the software on my home machine and laptop but I assume Microsoft wil
have record of the first installation and thus preven
installation/registration.

Uninstall, reinstall, activate, via phone if it comes to that.

Since the OP said that they couldn't uninstall, I'd suggest either to
install it on top of itself, followed by uninstalling it and re-installing
it to clean up any mess. Or use the MS Windows Install Cleanup Utility
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301) and then re-install. Please note
that is link is for Office pre-2007. If you have Office 2007 use:

If you've transferred the old HDD to the new machine, I don't see the
problem. Just re-activate. You might have to use the telephone method....
