Received used computer with Office 2000 premium without
discs.
Have discs for office 2000 professional but can not remove
premium.
Please provide step by step instructions.
Easy, format C: and re-install from scratch. Having received a used
computer that's the ONLY safe thing to do and should be done the very
first thing.
Why?
Because you probably haven't got licenses for the software that's
installed.
Because you don't know what's on the hard drive, as someone once
mentioned elsewhere, what if there are child porn pictures? Worse
case, you could wind up in serious trouble...
And last but not least:
Because if the previous owner was typical there are probably several
installed and not completely removed programs clogging up the registry
and if the previous owner was careless there may be virus and/or
spyware lurking.
You may want to run the HD manufacturer's utility to write "0"s to the
harddrive, then format, start over and everything will work.
