How to unsnap to grid when moving object in WORD?

I am beginning to use Office 2007 WORD. Can anyone help me what I should do
in the following case:

I am drawing a line using drawing tool and move it to a specific position,
but I would like to turn off " snap to a grid line" feature so that I can
move to the exact spot.

I doesn't. It still snaps to the grid, in fact it even snaps to a larger
grid( it jumps a larger steps). I am not sure it has to do with the fact
that mine is a laptop, but I don't see how. Try yourself and tell me what
you think.

I don't have Word 2007 installed, which is why I was asking rather than
trying.

Click & hold on the shape for a second before dragging, then hold down the
Alt key & start dragging.

To regulate the Grid & turn it on/off in 2007, select a shape to activate
the Drawing Tools>Format contextual tab, click the Align feature & select
Grid Settings...

How lame is that? When I turn the snap off (Grid Settings...), I expect it
to be off. But nooooooo, it still snaps and I have to do this Alt key
business.
