Hi !! im very very new in project server 2003 . I have setup project server
publishe d the project plan ( document ) and given access to users/clients
also. but one big trouble which everyone is facing that they cant upgradeor
edit project plan in which every user is assigned a particular task,
mentioned start time, finish time . % completed etc. Even a administrtaor is
unable to upgrade or edit any thing in the project plan in the portal server
web access . it gives the message " you cannot edit details for a non -
enterprise project or to-do - list " however editing can be done in MS
office project professional in which a project plan is created .

You are definitely going down the wrong path with Project Server, as
referenced by the error message "you cannot edit details for a
non-enterprise project..." A non-enterprise project is any project saved
outside the Project Server database, probably as an .mpp file.

Your problems began when you failed to create a Project Server login account
in Microsoft Project Professional. When you create a login account and use
that account to log into Project Server through Microsoft Project
Professional, this allows you to work in enterprise mode and to save
projects as enterprise projects. To correct your errors, your Project
Server administrator needs to create a login account in Microsoft Project
Professional using the steps in the following link:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/CreateAdministratorLoginAccount.htm

Also, every user of Microsoft Project Professional needs to create a login
account as well, using the steps in the following link:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/CreatePMLoginAccount.htm

Beyond this, your Project Server administrator needs to delete all
non-enterprise projects published in Project Server. He/she should also
disable the permission that allows the publishing of non-enterprise projects
by completing these steps:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click Admin - Server configuration
3. Select the "Allow only enterprise projects to be published to to this
server"
4. Click the Save Changes button

After this is done, your project managers will need to import their projects
into the Project Server database using the following steps:

1. Launch Microsoft Project Professional and log into Project Server
2. Click Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to Enterprise
3. On the page dealing with resources, be sure to match resources in the
project with Enterprise Resources in the Enterprise Resource Pool
4. Complete each step of the import Wizard to import the project into
Project Server
5. Repeat steps 2-4 for each project

Finally, given your "false start" with Project Server, I would strong
recommend you purchase our company's two books on Project Server 2003,
available for purchase by clicking either of the URL's in my signature block
in this message. Hope this helps.
