How to update Task approval manager

K

In Project Professional 2007 in conjunction with Project Server 2007,
I have a resource that was assigned a task by a former manager. The
contact information when viewed via the PWA assignment details shows
myself as the project manager and the former manager as the approval
manager. How can the approval manager for the task be updated to
reflect my userid, so that task updates for the task flow to me as
opposed to the former manger?

Change the status manager of the task to you.

Thank you for the post. The unfortunate aspect of MS Project
Professional 2007 and Project Server 2007 is that you can never tell
what views the user has (in this case myself). The Status Manager is
not exposed in the views that I have available to me, when using MS
Project Professional 2007. I found that I could use the Edit; Replace
function and set the field to act on to Status Manager. I then set the
value to the former manager's name and entered my name as the
replacement value and was off to the races. Goal accomplished!
Hopefully this will put an end to the mysterious missing task updates
the project team has been submitting. Interesting that such a common
occurance such as a the need to change the change Approval, aka Status
Manager isn't accounted for in any publications that I recently used
to research this issue. Perhaps it is owed to the fact that I was
using the value of Approval Manager and not Status Manager?

John:

One of the things we recommend in our Implementing and Administering book is
to create a set of essential views that Microsoft neglected to ship. These
include what we call a "publishing" view. Get your administrator to add a
view for this purpose to the Enterprise Global, and everyone will have
access to it.
