How to use /@/ as an ordinary letter

R

Rob v. Albada

Hi all,

I have a problem (with Word2000) when I want to type an Indonesian or
Javanese text.
I like to use the '@' sign for the pepet, but every time I use a '@'
in a word, this word is interpreted by Word as being an email address.
For instance 's@gala', 't@pat', 'd@lapan' and 'l@mari' appear in a
light blue color, indicating they are email adresses, which they
aren't. The '@' only represents the pepet (schwa or mute /e/), which
is one of the phonemes of both Indonesian and Javanese.
How do I tell Word tthat the character '@' is part of the alphabet and
is NOT representing an email address?

Kind regards,

Rob van Albada, Amsterdam.

Like this:

From the menu, select Tools, AutoCorrect -- the AutoCorrect dialog box
opens.

Select the 'AutoFormat As You Type tab'.

Under 'Replace as you type', deselect 'Internet and network paths with
hyperlinks'.

(Word 2002)
Tools > AutoCorrect Options ...
"Autoformat as you type" Tab
Turn OFF "Internet and network paths with hyperlinks"
