How to use .IMG file version of Project 2007

N

Nick n Ruth

Downloaded the Project 2007.img file. Followed directions to copy onto CD.
Problem is, it's still a .img file and Windows/XP doesn't know how to resolve
it. Support wants $50 to answer the question, as email just points to
newgroups/FAQs that's I've already checked.

How do we use the ... file? If I can't get this resolved soon, we'll be out
of time for the trial version, in which case we will NOT be buying the full
product.

I never thought I'd wish for MSI and CAB files!

Hi Nick n Ruth,

I'm sorry this is not my area of expertise, but a quick search turned up
some information from MSDN forums about installing from an *.IMG file.
See the topic on "Manually installing an Express Edition" beginning with
the third bullet at:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/support/install/

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

..IMG is a CD Image, you will need to use a program that can u
nderstand the .img image and extract the contents of the image before
burning on the CD/DVD. I think these are some free software versions
available that can do that. Try google

This isn't a Project or Microsoft software related question, it's a
general computing question. That might explain why MS Project Support
wants money before they help you.

You need third-party software that can "burn as image" (or something
like that). Look for software that can burn ISO files, IMG files are
actually the same thing. (more or less, I won't bore you with
technical details).
Well known burning suites like Nero or Easy CD creator are able to do
that.
If your pc didn't come with third party burning software pre-
installed, please take a look at the Free/Libre software on
SourceForge: http://tinyurl.com/2865bs

Please let us know if this was helpful.
