How to use my contact list with Word to create mailing labels

Since they are both "Office" products, I would think that
there was some easy way for me to create mailing labels.
Has anyone figured out a way to do this that is not too
cumbersome? If I can start creating mailing labels as
well as figure out how to expand the important dates, like
anniversaries, kids birthdays, etc, I can get rid of my
antiquated, but VERY functional "Address Book 7.0"

What version of outlook / office are you using? I am
using 2003 and there is an contacts - merge option.
While in contacts look under the tools / merge option.

use tools, mail merge - but you do need to use the same version of outlook
and word. (not ol2002 with word 2000 for example)
