I'm in the process of implementing MS Project Server and am finding
that it only really functions as a planning tool out of the box. I
only manage software development programs and related projects. My
dilemma is that I need more of a work management / resource management
tool AND project management.
For example, I have a shared resource pool of developers who are
shared between multiple projects and customer support.
Any given developer may be assigned to a new development task for 4
hours per day on Project1, bug fixes for two hours per day on Project1
and an enhancements on an existing software application for two hours
per day. I'll need to be able to schedule this person accordingly.
Is anyone else doing this?
