How to use shared session over the internet with OneNote?

I have no problem with shared sessions over the network in my office. But I
can not create a shared session over the internet. Is there a way to do this?

Your office probably (hopefully!) has a firewall which is blocking the
ports necessary for a shared session over the Internet.

Check with your office's network administrator to see if the ports can be
opened up. The port number is 2302 unless you've somehow changed it under
Tools | Options | Shared Session.

Thanks for the answer, here are some more details. I am on a cable modem with
a linksys wireless router. In OneNote, I went to Tools | Options | Shared
Session and changed the option to: Use the following port - 2302.
I start the shared session and invite attendees and the message in the email
that you send to the attendees subject says, "Session address for
participants joining over the Internet:
No public address is available for this shared session. "
Is there a way to fix this so I can get a public address?
Thanks,

What you'd have to do is configure your LinkSys router to forward all
incoming 2302 traffic to the internal address of your PC AND figure out what
IP address the outside port of your LinkSys has. (http://www.dnsstuff.com
will tell you).

Then you'd have to send an e-mail to the others with that IP address info
and have them connect to it.

Keep in mind your IP address may change from time to time so you'll probably
need to check it before every session you try to do.
