How to validate an email?

Hi,
Our adding expected a valid email in order to be activated
and we looking for away to valid the email

we come to this idea:

1.User will enter an email
2.The add in will generate an activation message to the email
3.The add in will test the from field of the sent message(in the sent item
folder)
4.if the from field equal to the email than the email belongs to the user

is this a reasonable way?

do you have any suggestion?

that email addresses are subject to Outlook security prompts.
