How to vertically align text within an autoshape?

G

Glreaux

The help index references buttons on the format toolbar that are used to
vertically align text within an autoshape. However, when I view the toolbar
and the additional buttons, these are not included. Any suggestions? I need
my text centered both ways.

Thank you!!

Hi Glreaux,

You did not state which version of Word you are using. However, in
Word2000, I accomplished the horizontal and vertical alignment by putting a
text box inside the auto shape and inside of the text box I put a one cell
table. I then inserted my text into the table cell and did the horizontal
and vertical alignment. It is a little cludgy but it is the only way to get
vertical alignment.

The Help is wrong if it says you can do this in Word (it is possible in
Publisher). In order to vertically center text in a text box in Word, you
have to insert a table cell and use the table cell alignment controls.
