How to work with Excel worksheet as insert in Calendar event ???

Have Excel insert in Calendar event, but not handy working with as an
spreadsheet insert.
Would like to be able to save as separate Excel file and then save back to
the insert file.
Maybe need to work with regular file and insert each time want to print as
part of Calendar event info ?
Suggestions ?
