How turn off all auto functions?

Is there a way to turn Word into a "What You See is What you get" word
processosr?
Can it be set up so it leaves me alone and lets me write as if I were in
Note Pad until
I'm finished and then format it?

Set view normal, don't add any formatting. Note, you may need to set a
template that has no fancy margins or indents set up and a default font you
like.

Does that do it?
