How useful is VBA?

From all the Project books I've read over the last month (3 different ones)
and some of the web sites I've looked through, it seems that VBA is something
that a person who uses Projects for a living should learn. I am going to buy
a book and learn it as well as I can today unless someone can convince me why
that would be a waste of time.

Thanks.

Absolutely you should buy a book on Project VBA (disclosure: I've written
the only book on Project VBA!).

Seriously VBA is a powerful tool, but it is suited more to power users of
Project. However novice users may actually be using a VBA macro without
knowing it.

Use VBA to automate any repetitive processes such as producing specific
reports or to add functionality to project that it doesn't already have, for
example to create a report in Excel that it doesn't already do.

Happy programming!

In addition to Rod Gill's sage reply about the usefulness of Project VBA, he
failed to mention you can buy his book at:

http://www.projectserverbooks.com

If you purchase his book, I believe you will find it a valuable resource.
Hope this helps.

I agree that it is useful, however, to be successful with VBA requires
understanding the application well. The time to learn VBA is when you are at
a point where you find yourself wishing project could do more.

I have a free series of articles about VBA you can read here:
