Howto Create VBA COM Addin for Excel 2003

Michael

Can you create a COM Addin for Excel 2003 using VBA? I don't see the Addin
create under the file menu in the VBA editor. Do I need something else?

Thanks,

Michael

Has this changed in Office 2003? I know you could do it with Office XP using
Office XP Developer.

Someone just claimed that Office Developer could create COM add-ins. I'm not
familiar with it. Isn't this a separate product?

Yes, it's an addon product which I have in addition to Office XP. But that
product is not available for Office 2003. I'm wondering if there is anything
else to create a VBA COM Addin in Office 2003, specifically Excel and Word.
I've seen references to addin designers for Project 2003 and Visio but not
the remaining applications.

I think I confused this product with something called "Visual Studio for
Microsoft Office". This tool won't create COM add-ins. In fact. I haven't
been able to figure out why anyone would need it at all.

Where can I find detailed information about "Office Developer"? Something
that describes what it is you get if you buy this product.

It's not available anymore and its been removed from the MSDN subscriber
download site as well. If was available for Office 2k and XP.

Hi Michael,

I have found that the Office XP Developer tools work fine within Office 2003
(through an upgrade install scenario - not sure about a direct install). So if
you still have the Office XP Developer disks, try installing them with Excel
2003. It works fine for me.

Thanks for the tip.
I had Office 2003, but un-installed it and installed Office XP, thinking
that otherwise Office Developer wouldn't work. Will now then put Office 2003
back on.
