Use the LinkMasterFields and LinkChildFields properties of the subform
control. Use the name of the combobox in the LinkMasterFields, and the pnum
field name in the LinkChildFields.

can i set it up manually. i lost my cd. i'm using office 97

Huh? The CD has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Open the Form in design view. On the menu, select View... Properties.
Select the edge of the subform control. The Properties window will
show a long list of properties; on the Data tab, set the property

Master Link Field

to the name of the combo box on your mainform; and set

Child Link Field

to the name of the field in the subform to which you're linking.

If the combo box and the field are both named pnum, just type pnum in
the Master Link Field and the Child Link Field property boxes.

The feature IS installed on your computer; Access has Subform controls
all the time. Perhaps the Form Wizard isn't installed? Well, you don't
need it, and in this case it wouldn't help anyway; the wizard doesn't
know about using a combo box as a master link field!
