Howto install Dutch OCR in Dutch Office 2003?

T

Tobias

I have difficulties with a Dutch office 2003 installation where the error
occures "This preset requires that you install the OCR language Dutch" when I
try to scan a document with the Microsoft Office Document Scanning tool. In
the preset options under the Processig tab (Default office Language setting)
is selected. Englisch French and Spanisch are alternative choices here, but
no Dutch. When I try to scan a document an error occures: "This preset
requires that you install the OCR Language Dutch". So how do I do that?

Hi Tobias,

I'm not sure I'm following correctly. The English language
edition of MS Office 2003 includes English, French and Spanish
proofing tools. The proofing tools for a particular language
enable the OCR capability. Dutch would be added through the
MS Office 2003 Proofing Tools Kit (sold separately) for the
English Language Edition, but Spanish would not normally
be available in the Dutch Edition.

Check the Office 2003 listing in Add/Remove Programs in the
Windows control panel to verify what Office Tools and Office
Shared features are enabled/installed and check the MS Office
language Settings tool in Start=>Programs=>Microsoft Office Tools
to see which languages are listed as enabled.

Can you spell check in Dutch in a Word document? Not all of
the languages have translation dictionaries for doing the OCR
in Office and you may need a 3rd party OCR product.

Tobias

Thanks Bob,

I think you found the problem. I had just installed it and I assumed that I
had a dutch version of the Office 2003 suit and therefore should have dutch
spelling capabilities but it turned out to be an english version. I got this
version from my employer via the Microsoft Home Use program. My Employer is
an english company but I work for the dutch section of it. So I assumed
wrong. I cannot spellcheck a dutch document. When I try an error message
suggest to install dutch proofing tools.

I would have found this out one of thes days myself I think but thanks for
the advice anyway.
