HP 1320 slow to network print

I am using an HP laserjet 1320 to print Word documents from an application
that use OLE automation to create the Word documents. The application
prints fast enough on other PCs and printers. On the PC in question,
printing is fast, directly from Word also, yet from the application,
printing a Word document takes for ever. Does anyone know why?
