HP Ipaq synchronising software and Outlook

Jim

Hi,
My desktop came with Outlook 2007 preinstalled in a bulk deal for schools.
No installation CD was enclosed, no product code available.
I've got a HP IPAQ hw6900 mobile messenger, which comes with software to
synchronise it with MS Outlook. When I installed this software on my PC, the
next time I tried to open MS Outlook, I was asked for a product key, which,
of course I don't have. When I clicked on the Outlook icon, an install
screen came up, indicating that this was a 2002 version of Outlook, whereas
the version that came with the PC is 2007. Now, I cannot access Outlook and
without the CD, I cannot uninstall it, so that I can reinstall it.

Any ideas?

Jim.

Contact whoevere supplied your PC to ask how to restore it to factory
condition, or how to repair Office.
If they supplied it, its they who support it.
As to your Ipaq, its seems you installed the software without
reading/understanding what it would install

Is system restore enabled? If so, restore back before you installed the "HP
software" - which BTW, included outlook 2002. You should also run office
diagnostics (on Outlook's Help menu) after restoring.

I did that and I was directed to the last known good configuration, but that
didn't get around the problem. Thanks for the tip anyhow.

Hi Diane,
I ran system restore, but it sent a message saying it was unable to restore
to the date selected. The problem with running outlook diagnostics is that I
can't run Outlook.
Thanks for the tip anyhow.

You can run office diagnostics from the other office applications in the
suite. I'm not sure it will help though, unless you can roll back.

Do you have a copy of the office 2007 CD? If so, uninstall 2002 and reboot,
then rerun office 2007 setup and repair the install.
