HP Printers Crash Office Apps

Hi.

I am wanting to know
1. If anyone else has seen this problem?
2. Is it only HP Printers?
3. Is there a fix that anyone knows of?

I have a customer with a HP Laserjet 1100. Their old computer used to crash
all the time with office 2k. Did the reinstall thing, updates, patches etc.
to Office. Also to the OS and the Printer Drivers. Still no go.
They now have a new computer. It is doing the same thing. Now we have
loaded Office XP. All the Office/OS/Printer Driver updates. Still it
crashes when you start typing in word.
I eventually figured out is was printer related. I uninstalled the Printer
Driver and detached the printer it all works. Reinstall the Printer and it
fails. Install the printer not on lpt1 but on a tcpip port on the network
and it is fine.

Any ideas as to y?

Also. I had another customer on the same day come in with officeXP crashing
when you click on a tool / menu or when typing. He had an HP officejet as
the default printer. He also had a mita copier loaded too. Did all the
uninstall / apply of patches. The error was with a file called hp*.dll
(cant remember exact file name). It only crashed when he was off the
network. when on the network it was fine. I changed the default printer
driver to the mita and now it works fine.

Again. Any ideas?
Is this and HP fault? or MS Office fault? Has anyone else had this happen
to them?

Thanks
Lewis
