HP Scanjet 3200C Not working with Microsoft Document Imaging

Help!

I've tried everything that I know. For some reason the
Micrsoft Document Imaging/Scanning software is not
recognizing my HP Scanjet 3200C scanner. Here is what I
have done.

1) Unplug and disconnect the scanner, checked all
connections -- nothing
2) Uninstalled and reinstalled the software following the
instructions to disconnect the scanner first, uninstall
software, reinstall software, reconnect scanner -- nothing
3) I tried installing patches from the HP website --
nothing.

The scanner works on it's on via it's own software, but I
receive an error message when I try to scan directly from
the Microsoft Document Imaging software. The Microsoft
software tells me that it could not initialize the scanner.

Help!!!
