ok....i'm a novice at designing web sites...
so somebody help me out...

here is the problem...I have the page all designed....previews great! when
i send it to the web, my other pages are listed as html...they need to htm.
so, you can't click off of the first page... and i can't figure out how to
fix it...a friend of mine who is awesome at this stuff...but uses a
mac....doesn't know what to tell me about the program....but she tells me the
problem is on the first page...the codes say html....so she goes in and fixes
them, and then everything works fine. but i'd like to know how to fix
it...cuase now i went in and added some stuff, and am having the same
problem....now they don't work again...

i don't know how to look at the codes in publisher....all i see is the
visual....

I also can't get the music i have on the page to work on the web....it works
on preview, but not on the web?

help!

Make a point of searching this forum's past threads as well as using the
FAQ - http://www.publishermvps.com/Default.aspx?tabid=30 - as these are
common newbie issues that are well covered. Using resources provided you,
will provide you the best experience.

Do not change html code in the web page. All modifications are done in
Publisher in the web publication, NOT in the output'ed html.

You can use either htm or html, you just have to pick one and use it only.

Don't like the default file name and or extension? Then change it when you
Publish..... example (Publisher 2003), when you Publish the name defaults to
"index.htm" in the file name box. Replace that with your desired file name,
such as "index.html".

I'd say 95% of all posts here state, " it works in web preview ". Any more
it's like nails on a chalkboard to me. ( no offense )

Of course everything works on preview, all the files are on your machine,
which is where you are testing.

What really throws the newbie is getting files on the web server. Which is
the right place to do real testing. See my article
http://www.publishermvps.com/Default.aspx?tabid=157 - for help with that.
