HTML artifacts in "reply" or "forward" messages

We use sharepoint to collect data for status reporting and have create an
aspx page with web parts that puts the data into a good format for
consumption. To distribute, we copy the content from the sharepoint aspx
page and paste it into the body of an email message.

The results look great.

Our recipient gets the message and it looks good. However, if they forward
or reply to the mail, a whole lot of HTML artifacts show up in the previous
string and it looks like hell. Here's an example of the stuff that shows up:
