HTML code from MacWord drops one space per line when viewed via internet

I save my WordMac document as a web page and upload the html file, but
when I view via the Internet each line of text has one space dropped so
each line has two words squeezed together without a space.

If I open the WordMac document with Word on my Virtual PC then save the
html from there the problem does not occur.

I thought I had the problem solved by choosing the 'correct' encoding
from the WordMac Web Options but either forgot the lucky fix or never
got it fixed in the first place.

I would sure like to know how to make the WordMac html view correctly
on the Internet. My web host gives me the indirect advice to not use
WordMac. I don't buy that solution.

Thanks.

First, what version of Word are you using?

Does it happen with all files or only one?

Could you point to a URI that show this (or send me your Web Page file,
preferably along with the original document)?

I can't reproduce this using Word v.X or Word04. Is it a space between
two random words per line that disappears? Or is it consistently the
first or last two words, or some other pattern?

When you look at the html file in a text editor (e.g., TextEdit) do you
see anything different about the words with the missing space - is the
space still there and it's not being displayed, or did it actually get
removed.

What encoding are you using (Save As Web Page/Web Options/Encoding)?

Are you choosing to save the entire file into HTML or just the display
info?

Oh, I do. Word's a poor choice for generating HTML. m.

Not if all you're trying to do is post a document, as "doc" seems to be
doing. In fact Word's HTML is designed exactly for round-tripping a Word
document to the web and back to Word without anything being altered.

For any other purpose, though, I agree with you.

Sorry: 'Fraid your ISP is right. Word Mac emits a cut-down version of Word
Markup Language. That's all they had time to get working before they had to
ship the product, this time around.

Sorry, John, I don't buy this for the OP's problem.

Sure MacWord's HTML/WordML sucks, but that doesn't explain why exactly
one character per line gets "left out".
