html douments in word 2003

Hello
I go to school online and some of my instructors send their lecture notes in a OE post not as an attachment using word. When I save the documet as an html file and then open it up in word to print it out and save it some of the apostrophes, dash(s) and quote marks come out as squares. When I do this at work using word 2000 it does not happen. It also happened in Word 2002 (XP). Is there any way to solve this? It gets quite tedious to look for all the squares and find out what it was supposed to be. Thanks
Kristine

it was supposed to be.How about if you copy/paste into Word, do you still get the squares?

You might also try activating Tools/Options/General/Confirm conversions on open
and see if Word gives you the option to open the HTML document with different
encoding. A different encoding might pick up the "odd" characters.
