HTML format powerpoint cannot play local movie without internet connection

I saved a powerpoint file into HTML format using Powerpoint2003. In one
slide, it has a movie object which plays a local wmv file. The problem
is, if I do not have internet connection when the media player is
called, the movie cannot start. As soon as I get an internet
connection, It works. Can anybody tell me why this happened?
