HTML Link in Outlook Always Opens in Browser Under Vista

Greetings all!

I'm trying to help a colleague with a problem. He's running Outlook 2003
under Vista Home and html links to word documents always open in the browser.
For our business application we really need to have them open in Word.

Changing this setting in XP is easy enough; however, after hours of
searching I have been able to discover how to do it in Vista.

Control Panel->FOlder options. Use the classic view.

I'd already done that. However, I went back and looked again.

I saw nothing that would enable me to change the setting which has it opens
in the browser as one does in XP.

Can you please be a bit more specific as to where the setting is changed?

Accckkkk!

I just realized I erroneously stated that the problem was that an Outlook
HTML link to a Word doc always opens in the browser.

Grrrr .... It is actually an HTML link to a Word doc in the browser that
always opens Word in the browser (vs. in Word, which is where we want it to
open).

I apologize for the confustion.

I finally found a solution which worked which I'm posting here for others who
may run into the same problem.
