HTML rendering in Entourage - resized images and extracted links

We send different HTML messages within our company (generated from our intranet) that look just fine in Outlook 2003 on PCs, but look horrible in Entourage 2008: images are resized (squeezed to be smaller than they should) and hyperlinks are shown as full URLs AFTER the text that was supposed to be a clickable link.

This doesn't happen with all HTML messages that come from outside our company (third-party newsletters, for example), so I thought maybe it has something to do with how our internal HTML e-mails are constructed...

Our internal mailings are sent as multipart/related messages with all the images embedded within the message. The <img> links refer to "cid:" identifiers rather than "http:" URLs. But if I add a single image tag that refers to a URL (e.g., <http://oursite.com/spacer.gif)> then Entourage behaves better and shows the other CID images as expected and doesn't mess with the hyperlinks.

Just thought I'd mention this in case somebody else has problems with multipart/related messages and rendering in Entourage. I'm not sure if this is intentional or a bug...

Thank you for bringing this up. Btw, the same issue existed in
Entourage 2004.

This bothers me too, about Entourage. It's almost as though a clever program manager thought it would be smart to break how links were handled, so it wouldn't be as capable as Outlook.

Nawwww... That's a crazy thought.

I would imagine you may be seeing this with RTF messages and not complex
HTML messages. Entourage does not support RTF and therefore must present
the information to you in some usable manner.

I have a similar problem I believe... We have an evoicemail system that emails voice messages, the email includes links that allow you to connect to the server to delete messages. Entourage appears to be ommitting parts of these links, basically anything that starts with a & ampersand.

Correct and working link: (from webmail client)
<https://evoicemail.XXX.edu/deletems...0000$0!1&MsgDT=5/22/2008 10:37:00 AM&CS=43489>

Incorrect or invalid link: (entourage 08 SP1)
<https://eVoicemail.XXX.edu/deletems...0010000000000$0!1=5/22/2008 10:37:00 AM=43489>

It is the same email message. Notice how it removes &Mailbox, &CCM, &MsgDT, and &CS.

I have tried toggling Preferences>Security>HTML Options, but do not see any other formatting or security options available to check.

It also seems that when sending a message with both correct and incorrect links through Entourage, it does not mangle to url.
