HTTP mail store could not be properly updated

Hi folks, I recently reverted back to Outlook 2003 from Outlook 2007 because
O2007 wasn't very stable with my Groupwise server (whereas, I didn't have
very many problems with O2003). After uninstalling O2007 and reinstalling
O2003, I received this message the very first time I opend O2003:
The HTTP mail store could not properly be updated. You may want to restart
Outlook before proceeding.'

I did as directed, but had the same message. What's more, is that my
Hotmail account that originally worked in O2007 has disappeared from the
folder list, and does not exist as a file in Outlook account folder (under
Users>Application Data>Roaming>Microsoft>Outlook). I deleted the account
from under Accounts, then added it, but still received the same error
message. I tried running the 'Repair Office 2003' program, but to no avail.
Any suggestions on what I could do to solve this problem?

Thanks for the help.

Diane, thanks for the response, but why would I want to create a new profile?
The remainder of my profile is fine (I have a Groupwise account from my
university that is working well). Is there a basal problem with my profile
that would necessitate a new one to correct the issue? What conditions lead
you to believe so?
Thanks,
Doug

When you change versions of outlook, a profile can become corrupted.

You can have more than 1 profile, so make a new one to test and if the
problem persists, go back to the old one. If it fixed the problem you can
eventually delete the first - but there is no hurry, you don't need to
delete it immediately.
