https URL leads to "An error occured while trying to navigate .."

Hi,
From within Visio I want to link to a https URL. In Visio this causes the
error message "An error occured while trying to navigate the following
hyperlink: https://portal.........."

The exact same link works in PPT on my computer.

I use Visio 2003 SP3, PPT 2003 SP3, and IE7.

Is there a workaround for this issue?

So what happens when you type the address in the address box for Visio and
then select browse? Do you have the box for relative path in Visio checked?

Hi James,
When I type this address into the address box for Visio and select browse,
then the correct web page is launched and the correct browser window title is
inserted into the description field in Visio.

I don't check the relative path box because this isn't a relative path.

BTW: This address works in the browser address field.

This issue should have been addressed in service pack 1 for Visio 2003. I ran
a test using an https link and there was no error. What happens if you test
using another link do you still get the same results? Your message is a
little different than what was reported with the original issue.

Ok however what I am suggesting is to test a different https link to see if
the issue occurs. If you are using any type of firewall or proxy software you
may want to check the setting. If it works with another https link perhaps
there is problem with the link when used in Visio. You may want to open a
support ticket with Microsoft since it may require more information to come
up with a workaround.
